Open Settings with the gear button at the right edge of the transport bar. The panel has five tabs: General, Audio, AI, Plugins and Account. Escape or a click outside closes it.
General tab
- Playhead scrolling — choose Static view (the playhead runs across the screen and the timeline stays put) or Follow playhead (the timeline pans smoothly to keep the playhead in view).
- Display size — scale the whole interface up or down. Also available from the View menu: Ctrl/Cmd + = and Ctrl/Cmd + - zoom, Ctrl/Cmd + 0 resets to actual size.
- Updates — check the current version and update status.
Audio tab
Input and output device selection with live input level meters, driver type (ASIO / WASAPI / legacy on Windows, CoreAudio on macOS), buffer size, sample rate, and latency compensation. See the Audio Setup guide for what each setting does and recommended values.
AI tab
- Music Generation — shows the generation engine. It runs through SmartGroove’s own service; no API key is needed, just sign in on the Account tab.
- AI Chat Assistant — runs through SmartGroove’s service; each message costs credits based on actual usage.
- “Allow AI assistant to generate music without asking” — when unchecked, the assistant asks for confirmation before triggering paid AI music generation.
- Voice Recognition — pick the speech model and the microphone used for push-to-talk voice input (hold Shift + A to talk).
Plugins tab
Shows the plugins found on your system and the folders that are scanned for them. Add or remove scan paths and rescan after installing new VST3 or CLAP plugins.
Account tab
Sign in or create your SmartGroove account (email or Google). Once signed in you see your plan, remaining AI credits and renewal date. Manage Subscription opens the billing portal to upgrade, cancel, pause, change payment method or download invoices.
